There are many different treatment options available in your care. Treatment may include any combination of the following treatment methods.

Manual and activator manipulation techniques
The type of manipulation performed depends on many factors including your age, your health, the area being addressed and your comfort level. If you are not comfortable with manual adjustment, other methods will be utilized.

Graston technique
This is a technique which utilizes stainless steel tools to loosen up muscles and scar tissue. For more information on this technique click here.

Manual soft tissue techniques
These include any number of different methods of soft tissue massage or mobilization including cross friction massage, trigger point therapy and myofascial release. This is generally performed along with any adjusting in order to address any tight muscles that may be contributing to your symptoms. This may be performed along with the various stretching techniques to loosen up muscles. Adjusting the joints of the spine and/or extremities does influence the musculature, but the primary effect is on the joint. Soft tissue massage and stretching techniques have a secondary effect on improving joint function, but the focus is reducing muscular spasm.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to gently massage the muscles and soft tissues. Generally speaking, nothing is felt when ultrasound is performed, but its effects can be quite noticeable. Ultrasound can be performed on a continuous setting for deep heating purposes as the constant friction of the sound waves produces heat. This is applied to reduce tension in chronic tense muscles and soft tissues. Ultrasound can also be used on a pulsed setting. This is applied to more acute conditions because it does not create heat and is an excellent therapy for reducing inflammation.

Electric stimulation (low volt therapy and microcurrent)
Low volt therapy is applied to reduce muscular spasm. It works by repeatedly contracting and muscle and fatiguing it so that it relaxes. This therapy also was performed in a very comfortable fashion and it generally feels like a strong muscle twitch.
Microcurrent therapy is applied to reduce inflammation and speed healing. It is a very gentle therapy; generally nothing is felt when it is applied. To give you an idea of how gentle it is, can be applied to fractures. In fact it has been shown in studies to speed the healing of fractures.

Hydrotherapy tables
Hydrotherapy tables feel like a waterbed with jets similar to a hot tub. You do not get wet when you lay on them. They are relaxing and generally applied to provide warmth, loosen up tight muscles and allow you to relax. Hydrotherapy may be applied to prior to or after your adjustment and soft tissue massage. When it is applied depends on your condition.

Orthotics
Orthotics are fitted for conditions involving the low back, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Not everybody will be fitted for them, but if you have any conditions of the feet such as flat feet, addressing this condition with orthotics will improve the outcome of your treatment. Our orthotics are fitted by having you walk a cross a computerized pressure sensing plate. This gets a moving scan of your feet which allows us to see what your foot does while you are weight bearing. Orthotics are fitted to correct any abnormal areas of high pressure on the scan.

Sport specific analysis
Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior or just someone who enjoys being active, we want you to be able to perform active the love without pain. Sometimes, that involves evaluation of the way you walk, your golf swing or how you throw a ball. Doing this sport specific analysis allows us to see any areas of stress, weakness or restriction. This information allows us to fully address the cause of your condition in order to speed recovery and prevent recurrence of symptoms.
